Abode 1
திருப்பரங்குன்றம்
Near Madurai, Tamil Nadu
The first abode. A rock-cut sanctum within the hill, remembered as the place of Murugan's marriage to Deivanai after the victory over Surapadman.
Traditionally the first of the six abodes visited. Panguni Uthiram is observed here with particular devotion.
Abode 2
திருச்செந்தூர்
Tiruchendur, Tamil Nadu
The second abode and the only one by the sea. Devotees associate this shore with Murugan's worship of Shiva before the great battle.
Skanda Sashti draws vast gatherings here. Many devotees bathe in the sea before entering the temple.

பழனி
Palani, Tamil Nadu
The third abode. Murugan stands here as Dhandayuthapani — the renunciate who has set aside all ornament and holds only a staff.
Devotees climb the hill, many carrying kavadi, especially during Thai Poosam.
Abode 4
சுவாமிமலை
Near Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu
The fourth abode. Here the child Murugan became the teacher of His own father, expounding the meaning of the sacred syllable.
Sixty steps lead to the sanctum, each traditionally counted with one year of the Tamil cycle.
Abode 5
திருத்தணி
Tiruttani, Tamil Nadu
The fifth abode — the hill of stillness, where Murugan is said to have set aside the heat of battle and where He is worshipped with Valli.
Devotees climb its steps on the last day of the Tamil year and at Krittika each month.

பழமுதிர்ச்சோலை
Solaimalai, near Madurai, Tamil Nadu
The sixth abode, set in a hill grove. Tradition links this place with Avvaiyar and the Lord's gentle testing of her wisdom.
A green, quiet ascent; devotees often complete the circuit of the six abodes here.
